Large Earthmarks Ochre Carved Bowl

Thrown on my Leach kick wheel with local Cornish white stoneware clay measuring 29cm in diameter.
I have carved a repeat scallop pattern around the outside of the bowl, added a copper oxide wash and fired to stoneware temperatures with an ochre and blue glaze. A dark copper glaze is on the inside for effective contrast. This glaze sparkles when it catches the light.
A tactile vessel which is as much about the pleasure of surface and touch as it is about form - earthy, bold and quietly reminiscent of something ancient.
Height 12cm. Base diameter 8cm. My maker’s mark is stamped near the base.
