A great experiment in surface decoration techniques - the wheel thrown pot (made with clay from St Agnes) was turned back on the wheel after it had dried for a day to refine its shape. I then smoothed the surface with a favourite stone from Newlyn beach which compressed the surface (this leaves the tiniest of lines around the pot giving a pleasing ripple effect).Wax was painted onto some of the surface allowing me to isolate the leaf design. Ochre celadon glaze has been painted onto the pattern and a clear glaze has been applied to the inside. The rest of the pot is unglazed but feels smooth the touch and provides a nice contrast. Fired to 1250 degrees. It measures 16cm tall x 10cm at its widest.
